Exercise Some Common Sense

I recently read a news article where a 17 year old girl was sexually assaulted at a city park at 10:00 PM. She was walking or jogging alone and was nearing the parking lot where her car was parked when she was assaulted. First of all, a 17 year old should not be out walking at a city park after dark. And she definitely shouldn't have been alone after dark at a park like that! I am all for exercise, but when I read or hear of such incidents, my mind is absolutely boggled. I live in a town similar to "Mayberry", but I would not go to our park alone after dark to exercise! It is time we wake up and quit thinking "it won't happen to me"! It is time we start using some common sense and not place ourselves in situations where bad things could easily happen to us! Like I said, I am all for exercise. And it is our right and privilege to be able to walk or jog at our city park. But when we do so, we should take some precautions. First we should walk or jog with a friend, but if that is not possible we should go in the day time and let somebody know where we are going and what we are doing. Then we should carry some form of protection...PREPAREDNESS MATTERS!
